While I would argue the ending kind of deflates the excitement a bit, I say that the review was spot on.
The show is well worth the investment and getting past the cultural dissonance of seeing puppets in action I can't wait for the second season. |

This was an awesome show. The only complaint I have is that I cannot remember the names of the characters, so I went with the Fate/Stay Night classes. Saber (samurai), Archer (for the archer), Lancer (the kid), Assassin (the killer), Caster (the thief).

I had some problems with the ending, but I still think this is an excellent show, and maybe the most purely entertaining thing Urobuchi has ever written. Even when the characters aren't involved in spectacular fighting sequences, the way their personalities bounce off each other is loads of fun, and the voice acting by Suwabe, Toriumi and co. is stellar.
In my case, I just followed my brother's advice and memorized the Japanese pronunciation of each name (Shou Fu Kan, Lin Setsu A, Tan Hi, etc.). It's hard to memorize the Chinese pronunciations when they're not used by the voice actors and the names are romanized with accented vowels I have no idea how to pronounce. |

Yes, in fact, the final episode of the first season towards the end credits states that a second season is in production. |

I'm not quite sure what is meant by this because I can remember quite a few moment when events happen for no other reason that they needed to happen for the plot to move forward despite making absolutely 0 sense (spoiler[like the assassin just agreeing to help the group...because... Unless that was later explained and I missed it]). I guess that could be what it literally mean "everything happen because the narrative needs it too" but its phrased in a positive way but I'd consider it a massive negative. |

This was definitely my favorite of the last season, alongside Mob. It's ridiculous, yet effective. The Jojo comparisons are very much appropriate. I can't wait for the second season.
Also, I remember in 2013 when Hiroyuki Sawano's soundtracks were becoming a bit redundant, but still managed to be engaging. That was the year of both Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill. Both sounded like he wasn't attempting to innovate with his sound much, but they were effective and catchy, and the KLK OST in particular I thought was [expletive] awesome. I mean, who doesn't feel the primal compulsion to pump their fists gloriously in the air every time Don't Lose Your Way starts playing? Or the glamorous beauty (and wonderfully poor German) of Blumenkranz? Stuff like his work on this show and Kabaneri just seem like a poor man's imitation of his superior past arrangements. |

So what you're saying is, it's fundamentally fun? Then I'd have to agree! Unlike some others, I enjoyed every second of the ending, which was about as satisfying as I could hope for - and that's impressive for a series that plans to continue. |

I didn't have much trouble remembering the characters' names but I also studied Mandarin for 2 years, so I was already well experienced with the tonal language of Chinese.
